about

"Rainy Season" is the first album by the group Plum Rain, made of McGill music students Benjamin Sigerson, Tony Wang, and Honoka Shoji. The entire album is a collection of free improvisations, in part inspired by East-Asian poetry, such as the work of Basho, Nung-Un, and Wang Wei.

Great thanks to Antoine Gallois for his work in recording and being a part of the improvisational process, and to Louise Chen for her work in designing and creating the album art.

Recorded March 2020

We acknowledge this album was recorded on the traditional grounds of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe nations. As students of jazz, we recognize and respect that our training and improvisational knowledge comes from Black-American artists.
